Melbourne

Hey everyone long time no post, we are undergoing renovations on the house plus I took a little Holiday to Melbourne which has meant either lack of wifi or lack of computer to post on. But I'm back now and I'll do a proper outfit post sometime in the next couple of days, for now here is a brief guide to my time in Melbourne and some recommendations for anyone who's planning on heading of there soon.
1) Pack for every weather- I was not aware of this crucial first step when I was packing for Melbourne so on my first day I was greeted with gale force winds and rain and I was equipped with my shorts and tshirts. Melbourne is known for its four seasons in a day so while you're there you could get everything. I would recommend a mixture of jeans and jumpers but throw in a pair of shorts or skirts while your at it. Be prepared for anything.
2) Pack Light- Melbourne has incredible shopping and so trust me you will end up buying something, don't fill your suitcase up chocker block with shoes instead wait until you get there you are bound to find something you like amongst the endless shopping opportunities available.
3) Don't be afraid to get lost- every pathway in Melbourne will lead you somewhere, whether its a interesting museum, markets whatever you don't want to restrict yourself by following a set schedule.

Things to do:
1) Chapel Street- Chapel Street has some amazing and incredible shops. Depending on which end you get. One end is extremely high market, which Sass and Bide, Gorman, Mimco, Shakuhachi etc. The other end is slightly more down market but it still has a couple of nice shops such as American Apparel. You will find tonnes of treasure on Chapel Street, it is a definite must visit destination
2) Bourke Street- yes more shopping!!! Bourke Streets has shops like General Pants, Sportsgirl, Portmans and best of all Acne. You'll want to save up some money before heading down to Melbourne.
3) Laneways- the laneways are some of the most authentic and least touristy areas of Melbourne, tucked away in back streets and alleys you might just stumble upon them by accident but they have cute little shops and cafes, great photo opportunites
4) ACMI/NGV/Ian Potter Centre- yes you may want to participate in some nice cultural education. The ACMI (Australian Centre of the Moving Image) has exibitions on screen and movies plus a special exhibition that varies, while I was there it was one about music videos, in the times I've gone before it has had stuff on Tim Burton and Disney. NGV and Ian Potter are art galleries they often have some interesting stuff to look at.
5) Just explore you'll find plenty of things to do and place to go to

Hope this helps for those travellers amongst you
Claire
